I felt Cameron was attempting an adult version of Harry Potter.. like bringing in celluloid the fascinating imaginary world of Pandora and trying to capture the interaction between our world and theirs..
I found Rowling's imagination much more interesting and well thought of .. every possible queries about that world and their relation with the muggle world were answered.. still have lot of questions on Pandora and avatars..
maybe its too early for me to comment because I didn't see the full movie.
